Rashida Jones: Sororities, Racism, and Cute Tees
Written by Celebrity Blogger on March 6, 2008 – 12:06 pm -
Rashida Jones, daughter of Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton, recently spoke out about being biracial and how she was turned away from an all-black sorority.
“I definitely learned my lesson. I’m back to that place were I’m like, ‘You know what? I’m black, I’m white, I’m Jewish, I’m Irish, I’m Portuguese, I’m Welsh, what the f**k ever.’ To me it’s so inconsequential. “People still say things to me like, ‘Oh my god, you’re black? I would’ve never guessed that.’ And I just think, I can’t help your ignorance. There are bi-racial people who look like me or who look like Alicia Keys or who look like Halle Berry. I’m so proud to be so many things.” Source
In other news, Rashida has recently launched an eco-friendly clothing line called Laloo with her partner Angela Wilcox. The line features items made with organic cotton.
Jones told Lucky Mag, “It was important that everything be reasonably priced and look great on a range of body types.”

Terri J. Vaughn Elopes and Spills The Beans to Essence
Written by Celebrity Blogger on March 3, 2008 – 3:25 pm -
Teri J. Vaughn talks hollywood, her divorce, and her new marriage in an interview with Essence.com
Here’s a few key points of the interview.
ON HOLLYWOOD:
Essence.com: What would be a start in the right direction to give Black actresses a fair playing ground in Hollywood?
T.V.: A start is anyone who takes the time to watch this documentary that’s a start. Again, our voice is the most important and powerful thing we have. Not only a voice to talk about what’s wrong, but who we are as Black women. The images that are portrayed of us are so limited and don’t show the breadth of who we are. It’s disheartening for me to think that my nieces when they watch television they receive such a narrow view of a Black woman and a view of a woman that I don’t necessarily want them to see or whom they never see in their home. They don’t see Miss New York; they see their mother who has a Masters and is a social worker and they see their aunt who is a producer and an actress so why can’t they turn on the television and see more Black women like them on TV?

Get a Whiff of Halle Berry
Written by Celebrity Blogger on February 29, 2008 – 10:54 am -
Ever wondered what Halle Berry smells like?
You may find out as Berry has signed a deal to develop her very own fragrance line.
Coty’s senior vice president of global marketing Steve Mormoris said,“She adds another dimension to the celebrity fragrance market. Halle has always been a little more mysterious, not quite as open with her personal life as some other stars. Her fragrances will allow her to present another facet of her personality to her fans.”
Ha ha. That’s some pr/marketing talk if I ever heard it.
The fragrance has yet to be named and it will launch in department stores next year.
