The Boys and Girls Club received a $500,000 check from Jordan Brand, which is a division of Nike. Michael Jordan, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul joined community leaders and youth in New Orleans for a dedication ceremony.

This was a necessary donation as the Slidell Boys and Girls Club was damaged in Hurricane Katrina.

“The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of America has been a visible contributor to the families and children of New Orleans, during and post Hurricane Katrina,” said Jordan. “Slidell is a community that has been somewhat overlooked in recovery efforts, and we are proud to aid with its rebuilding and leave a lasting legacy for the community.”

It’s nice to know that people haven’t put New Orleans off their radar.

I think it’s nice how Serena Williams was surprised that there was such a big reaction to her breakup blog post.

To make a long story short, there was a breakup, she blogged about, it got a lot of attention, and the post was subsequently deleted.

Here’s what she said about the attention.

“The funny thing is I didn’t know it would be that big. Not that many people go on my website, which is fantastic. So many hits. It was like, oh my God.”

She also said that she’s ok and she was just joking.

“It wasn’t about anyone in particular. I’m extremely happy. I was joking with my friends back at home, apparently I have a heartbreak going on.”

I don’t know girlfriend. I respect your pride but that didn’t read like a joke to me.
