Back in January people were buzzing about Beyonce playing Etta James in a movie, while I was trying to figure out who Etta James is. (Shame on me!)

Now James has given an interview to Page 6. She says this of Beyonce:

“It’s a privilege and an honor to have somebody like that girl. I don’t think she looks like me, but that’s all right. They can fix that up…Oh my god, she’s going to have a hill to climb, because Etta James ain’t been no angel…I wasn’t as bourgie as she is, she’s bourgeois. She knows how to be a lady, she’s like a model. I wasn’t like that… I smoked in the bathroom in school, I was kinda arrogant, so those are some of the things I would want to tell her”

I love a good family friendly movie so you know I’m going to be in line to see College Road Trip staring Martin Lawrence and Raven Symone.

“When an overachieving high school student Melanie Porter (RAVEN-SYMONE) decides to travel around the country to choose the perfect college, her overprotective cop father (MARTIN LAWRENCE) also decides to accompany her in order to keep her on the straight and narrow”

Sounds good to me. It hits theaters March 7th. In other news:

Gary Coleman is married. Don’t laugh, be happy for the guy.

There’s different types of Queens, Queen of This, Queen of That, but I guess Aretha Franklin thinks there’s only one.

Jesse L. Martin is set to play Marvin Gaye in the movie “Sexual Healing”. According to Variety, filming will begin on April 15th. The story focuses on the last years of Gaye’s life.

James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano) will play Gaye’s manager, Freddy Cousaert, the promoter who guided the singer through the recording of his biggest-selling album, “Midnight Love.”

Lauren Goodman will direct the film based on her screenplay.

Do you all remember the movie Two Can Play That Game?

Such a good movie that didn’t get enough credit.

Well Shante (Vivica Fox) is back with Three Can Play That Game but this time to story is a little different.

“The story begins with Byron Thompson (George), a blandly conservative guy, undergoing a dramatic change of fortune when a makeover by his girlfriend (Lewis) turns him into an overnight reality television star. Afraid that Byron’s newfound popularity with the females will lead him astray, Tiffany enlists the help of relationship expert Shante Smith (Fox), who advises Tiffany that her only option is to force Byron into marriage. Meanwhile, not wishing to lose access to the new surplus of sexy women Byron’s stardom has spawned, Gizzard (Rock), Byron’s best friend, clashes with Tiffany and Shante and the battle of the sexes is in full swing.”

The cast includes Vivica A. Fox, Jason Winston George, Jaszmin Lewis, Tony Rock, Terri Vaughn, Kellita Smith

The DVD will be released on February 12th 2008 but you can preorder it on Amazon.
