LL Cool J: Young Black Men Should Seek Out Fathers

Written by Celebrity Blogger on March 17, 2008 – 6:35 am -

LL Cool J is telling young men that they need to seek out positive father figures or else they’ll face the consequences.

In black culture in general, in African-American culture, the least discussed thing amongst men is the fact that they really wish they had fathers… There’s a lot of single black women who did the best that they could and that’s a beautiful thing, but they don’t know how necessary a father is in a kid’s life and how much guys miss that deep down inside…That’s why they gravitate towards gangs. That’s why they gravitate toward older guys who may lead them in a negative direction, because they just want to be embraced by a man.”

I’ll save my social commentary, but I agree with him; that’s why I have a hard time saying “congratulations” when I hear that a young woman with no partner is expecting.

Diddy’s New Career

Written by Celebrity Blogger on March 3, 2008 – 11:44 am -

I’m trying to respect the man’s wishes and call him Sean Combs but I’m not going to make changes every 6 months so Diddy will do for now.As you might know, Raisin in the Sun was a success, and now Diddy is moving to Hollywood to be in movies.

“I’m out here [in Hollywood] looking for houses now…I’m going to officially be bi coastal. I feel like in order to make movies, you gotta be where they are being made,” he told AllHipHop.com

Raisin in the Sun drew in more than 12 million viewers and I think that Diddy credits himself for that.

“This has really set a tone out there in Hollywood that I could draw, that I could bring people to the box office and put people in seats as I make this transition …It’s one of my proudest artistic moments because I kept on working hard. I didn’t give up,” Diddy said.

And I thought that people watched because it was a classic story with a great cast overall. Can you say Phylicia Rashad.

Mr. Serv-On To Serve Up Dating Advice

Written by Celebrity Blogger on February 8, 2008 – 4:44 pm -

mr-serv-on.jpgI have no idea who this guy is, but I like what he is doing.

Former No Limit Soldier Mr. Serv-On has written a dating guide called Inside the Mind of Brothas: A Young Black Man’s Guide for Black Women Trying to Survive the Dating Game in Today’s Hip-Hop Generation.

He said, “With this book, I hope to teach women about today’s Black men in the Hip-Hop community, so that the playing fields are equal and every black woman will end up with the right guy.’

Mr. Serv-On also hopes that men understand women’s reactions to their actions.

“All in all, I hope through this book we learn about each other” he said.

Search The Web With Kanye West

Written by Celebrity Blogger on February 7, 2008 – 10:45 am -

While I doubt it’s usefulness for the average person, I think Kanye West’s new search engine is a smart business idea.

I won’t get into the technicalities, but it could be quite profitable if it’s handled correctly.

When you SearchWithKanyeWest.com you can win “swag bucks,” which are redeemable for prizes like limited edition Kanye West posters, iPhones, Macbooks, instruments, and other prizes. There’s also a toolbar available for download that increases your swag bucks.

Let’s just hope that toolbar doesn’t have any parasites. Sorry, I’m a web geek and a marketer. It says there’s no spyware, which is good, but commission stealing parasites are a totally different thing. You have to make money off of it somehow, let’s just hope it’s not shady.
