Let’s start the day off talking about the $300,000 donation that Russell Simmons made to the Diamond Empowerment Fund. That foundation name is kind of ironic considering that some blogs have a diamond-related nickname for Russell Simmons that isn’t very nice, but here at Celeb Positive we try to keep that talk to a minimum. Let me clarify before assumptions are made. The Diamond Empowerment Fund provides resources for educational programs to help students in African countries where diamonds are mined.

Apparently the donation came from money that was raised from the Simmons Jewelry Green Initiative, which is a collection of bracelets made of green malachite and rough diamonds. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt Russ, let’s just hope all these diamonds we are talking about are conflict free.
