I haven’t commented too much on Kwame Kilpatrick because the whole thing is just so ugly but I think there’s a lesson, or two, to be learned from the situation. Mainly what’s done in the dark will come to light.

Now the city of Detroit is in a hot mess, Kilpatick is in a mess, Christine Beatty is in a mess, and families are embarrassed, humiliated, and damaged. All over some sex? People really need to learn how to control their hormones, adultery is never excusable.

Now Kwame needs a legal defense fund and he turned to Greg Mathis, better known as “Judge Mathis“for assistance.

“I was contacted Wednesday afternoon (March 26, 2008) by Mayor Kilpatrick. He asked if I could serve on his legal defense committee. I informed him I support due process, but I could not support him.“This is the same type of deceit that has plunged our city into a deep crisis,” Mathis’s statement continued. “Not only do I not support him, but I recommend he resign so the city can heal and move forward.” _Source

I wonder how the kids are doing in all this, not so much now, but what about in the future? How will their relationships be?

Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon was on the cover of Jet with her twins Jaid Thomas and Jax Joseph, where she discusses her Playboy Magazine cover.

“I knew I was trying to get pregnant, I said who knows how my body will look, maybe we should document this now. I wasn’t doing this for anyone other than to prove I could do it. Then they offered the cover, which they don’t normally do for Black women. That made it incredible.”

It’s also incredible how people try to turn objectification into a positive thing. Posing in Playboy is not empowering, it’s demeaning.

That’s my positive contribution for the day.

Just when I thought the celebrity baby craze was dying down…I was actually a little disappointed after Halle Berry had her baby because then there were no more celebrity babies for me to look forward to.

How naive of me.

Laila Ali announced to Essence magazine that she and her husband Curtis Conway are expecting a baby this fall.

“I don’t know yet if we are having a boy or a girl, but I’m excited that I have a life inside me that my husband and I created.”

So what if her first movie didn’t gain critical acclaim, she back and trying again. Mariah Carey will be in an independent movie called Tennessee.

The movie is produced by Lee Daniels, you might recognize that name from Monster’s Ball, Shadowboxer, or The Woodsman.

Here’s the premise:

“Two brothers, Carter (Adam Rothenberg) and Ellis (Ethan Peck), embark on a journey from New Mexico to find their estranged father in the hopes of saving Ellis, who has been diagnosed with terminal leukemia. Along the way they meet Krystal (Mariah Carey), an aspiring country singer, who becomes the brothers’ guardian angel and joins them on their fateful road trip.”

The movie will premier at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26th at 6PM. It will be shown again on April 27th, April 30th, May 1st, and May 3rd.

Give it a chance,she might have improved since Glitter. If not, I still love the girl for trying.
