Just when you kind of forgot about Nicole Richie she dad Joel Madden open up and talk with People about parenting their daughter Harlow.

Richie says, “She gives life a whole new meaning and a whole new purpose.”

Here’s a post-baby picture of Nicole Richie. Richie gave birth to Harlow Madden on January 11th 2008. Yup, that was about 2 weeks ago.

She looks nice, but I’m kind of sick of the “she lost all the baby weight” headline. It’s already too much pressure on celebrity women. Now they have to be self conscious about losing their baby weight quickly? Give me a break. In most cases if it took 9 months to put on, you aren’t going to drop it in 5 minutes. Props if you do, but does that have to be the focus?

New mom Nicole Richie wants her child to grow up to be a generous girl. In a press release for her new foundation, The Richie Madden Children’s Foundation, she says:

“We want our child to grow up with the value of sharing and to inspire generosity in others,” said Richie. “We hope our access to the media will help us change focus from the trivialities of our lives to more meaningful issues.”

The new mom and dad also turned down baby gifts, in order to encourage people to spend their money on something that will last. Madden wrote:

“I want to thank everyone for all the love and kind words they’ve sent our way. We apologize we werent accepting and gifts/cards/calls at the hospital, but if you’d like to send something, we’d rather you make a donation to the richie-madden foundation, which we started in Harlow Winter’s honor”
